Ballroom Coordinator

Gates Hudson seeks a part-time sales coordinator a property in Washington,DC. This is a historic special events facility in northwest Washington, D.C., with a location that is central to Georgetown, the Washington Cathedral, and Embassy Row.


  • Establish client base of individuals, organizations, associations, social, and/or corporate businesses through direct outside and inside sales efforts to secure business for the hotel to ensure that revenue goals are met or exceeded. 
  • Actively prospect and qualify new business.
  • Present Ideas, expectations and information in a concise, well-organized way.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports.
  • Ability to sell any and all market segments assigned as needed.
  • Maintain a weekly sales quota of outside calls, all telemarketing calls.
  • Able to identify business in competition and strategize to shift share
  • Able to follow assigned marketing plan action items in a timely fashion
  • Maintain high visibility for property by active involvement in local networking opportunities.
  • Maintain strong product knowledge within competitive properties
  • Ability to penetrate existing accounts through obtaining referrals, other company contacts or offices, and formulating sales call strategies
  • Follow company sales and catering standard operating procedures
  •  Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Must have the ability to resolve routine issues and inform management of potential issues.
  • Ability to perform duties with high-level professionalism, flexibility, discretion, judgment, diplomacy and tact;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate a high level of professionalism and customer service;
  • Must be physically present to oversee execution of all scheduled events.

Job Requirements:

Considerable strong computer skills and applications, particularly spreadsheet applications.
Experience in scheduling, prioritizing, and planning multiple assignments while adjusting to changing priorities; and
